Hi, I’m Jennifer McGeever
I’m a qualified integrative therapist working both in North London and online, I offer therapy for adults looking for a compassionate space where they will be met with warmth and curiosity. I view psychotherapy not only as a tool for struggle, though it can be incredibly helpful to work through challenging times, but also a space for creative self-exploration and deepening intergenerational understanding and healing.
I am a member of the BACP (British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy) and practise in adherence to their ethical framework. I am also an active member of BAATN: the Black, African and Asian Therapy Network in the UK. I practise an integrative approach (psychodynamic and person-centred) and have an interest in transpersonal psychology and Jung’s work on synchronicity and the collective unconscious. Psychodynamic work involves exploring what from the past is still being reenacted in the present, it is imaginative and creative work which involves a collapse of timelines and being curious about what is historical that is pertinent presently. Person-centred work is based more in the here and now, the therapeutic relationship and how that in itself can be a corrective emotional experience and ultimately the belief that with the right environment (empathy, congruence and unconditional positive regard) every human being can grow and live in their fullest potential. I fundamentally believe in and have witnessed the power of therapeutic growth and change.
I value creativity, curiosity and compassion and aim to bring those to our work as we collaborate. I want my clients to feel like they can bring their full selves to our sessions and to create a safe space together that is ultimately client-led. I adhere to a holistic experience of therapy, so working somatically (how we experience physical sensations in the body) is equally as important as a mind and heart-based approach. Celebration and awareness of cultural diversity and difference is also something that underpins my work, and how its importance and dynamic may show up in our therapeutic relationship.
I work online with clients based around the world as well as in-person at my practice in North London, Islington, within the N7 postcode.
My fees are £75 for online sessions and £85 for in-person sessions.
